In 1838, siblings William and
Tamara Swift inherited a terrible legacy from their grandfather,
becoming Protectors of Albion, the magical defenders of the soul of England...
In 2003, the BBC's Cult
website debuted Ghosts of Albion: Legacy, an animated serial
drama by actress/writer/director Amber Benson -- best known for her
role as Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- and novelist Christopher
Golden -- author of Strangewood, Of Saints and Shadows, Wildwood Road
and The Boys Are Back in Town. For seven weeks the first Ghosts of
Albion story unfolded, and the serial averaged more than 100,000 hits
per week.
The story, in which the Swifts
join forces with the ghosts of formidable figures from Britain's
past, including Admiral Nelson, Lord Byron, and Queen Bodicea, won a
special commendation at the 2003 Prix Europa and was nominated for
the Bram Stoker Award.
In 2004, the next adventure
followed as Ghosts of Albion: Astray, a novella serialized
online (and later published in a limited edition by Subterranean
Press. Then came the second hour-long serialized animated episode,
Ghosts of Albion: Embers.
In 2005, Del Rey published Ghosts
of Albion: Accursed, the first full-length Ghosts of Albion novel.
September, 2006 will bring the follow-up to that critically acclaimed
novel, Ghosts of Albion: Witchery.
In 2008, Eden Studios releases
the Ghosts of Albion RPG.
Ghosts of Albion is a
Victorian-era tale of magic and demons, ghosts and vampires, love and
lust. On the death of their grandfather, a famed stage magician,
Tamara and William Swift discover that not all of the old man's magic
was performed on a stage. The siblings find themselves the inheritors
of an extraordinary legacy, and must bear the burden and the
sorcerous power that makes them the mystical guardians of early 19th
century England.
